News from Pepperland - January 15, 2012
Happy Winter All!
So much music happening in my world these days. Hope you're all staying warm & having fun.
For all you Beatles fans (and you know who you are!), I have posted my recording of the Beatles' Maxwell's Silver Hammer on my website (www.adamrothberg.com/music.html). It's right at the top. It's FREE! You can download it, or just stream it, but be sure to turn it up!
I am excited to announce that Kat Goldman's lush new album "Gypsy Girl" is now available. It features six songs produced and recorded by yours truly at Pepperland, my studio in Somerville, Massachusetts. As with many of my productions, I played a lot of the parts, arranged the strings, and recruited a crack drummer to play on several tracks: one of my all-time heros, Dave Mattacks (Paul McCartney, Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, XTC, etc.). Join us this Wednesday night (1/18) in Harvard Square, where Kat will release "Gypsy Girl" at Club Passim in Harvard Square. Show starts at 8 pm. I'll join her on guitar and vocals, as will bassist Mike Rivard. For more on Kat, check out www.katgoldmanmusic.com.
In other Kat Goldman related news, in between producing the album this past year, I produced two of her songs now featured on Canadian TV. Her song, Annabel, from her first CD (The Great Disappearing Act) was re-purposed for the closing credits of a Canadian comedy TV show called "Kenny Hotz: Triumph of the Will." Also, her new song Superstar (sure to be a hit with the tweens) will be featured twice in a new Disney Channel Original Movie called Shrinking Violet starring Debbie Ryan.
You might also recall that in addition to the Adam many of you know and love, I'm also a "Jumping Monkey"—that is, I'm a member of the band Vanessa Trien & the Jumping Monkeys. We play mostly original kids music, smart enough for grown-ups, aimed at kids ages three to nine, and fun for kids of all sizes. We're recording the latest bunch of songs right now and plan to have a huge CD release party featuring the full "Jumpin' Monkeys" band at Arlington's (Massachusetts) Regent Theater on April 14.
For those of you wondering when the next Adam Michael Rothberg CD is due: I've got a lot of new material, and am slowly making my may towards a new album. Please stay tuned! And as always, if you'd like to host a show in your very own home, let me know—house concerts really take the chill out of winter.
In the mean time, check out my calendar page for upcoming shows. I hope to see you there!
